A profile in every social network is very important. It is your “first impression” of another person. In order to get a great profile together in Google+, I cover every part of the profile.
The first part is about your header. Your header consists of your name, your tagline and a row of 5 pictures. Make sure you have your name in the top and a great tagline. Both will display every time you comment or post something. Make it catchy and memorable. Let people know what you are about.
With the pictures, you should make sure that you have relevant pictures in there. If you have a business, make sure the pictures are professional (meaning in good taste and rated for all audiences). If you want to be more personal, just add pictures from you. The pictures will not change all the time like in Facebook. The 5 that you add in there will stay there (in the same order) until you change them. A great idea is to add a picture pano in your profile. Here is a video from Scott Kelby explaining you how to do that: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ycUepb68ygo.
Great practical advice, loved it!
